MARAE, pronounced Mar-eye 108' Pilothouse Sloop, "Best Sailing Yacht", International Superyacht Design Award, 2004

The name Marae has origins from the native Maori tribe in New Zealand meaning a special meeting place for family and friends. With Marae's New Zealand construction by Alloy Yachts, the name is a natural fit.

This elegant yacht must be seen to fully appreciate her but in the interim the following description must suffice.

On deck Marae has a private aft cockpit with collapsible spray hood and direct access to the master stateroom. This cockpit area is equipped with large cushions for lounging. A fold out stern section provides comfortable steps and a sturdy swim platform.

Moving forward are the port and starboard steering stations, followed by a covered center cockpit with U-shaped sofas to port and starboard and hi-lo table for dinner or cocktails. These areas can be converted to lounging pads. Side windows slide open and a removable aft Isenglass curtain protects against the elements. A protected helm station is located to starboard.

Captive winches keep the teak decks free of clutter.

The interior woodwork on MARAE consists of stained walnut and is complemented by luxurious fabrics and crisp white linens, down duvets and down pillows in the staterooms.

The upper saloon has a full wet bar with stools and a leather U-shaped sofa with coffee table that converts into a comfortable lounging area with panoramic views.

Main saloon with comfortable sofas, coffee table and dining table seating six is located below, galley and crew areas are forward of the saloon and guest accommodations aft of the saloon.

The master stateroom is full width aft with private access to the aft deck. Centerline queen size bed, office and en suite bath room. Roomy stall shower with built in seat. Private staircase from the master stateroom to the aft cockpit.

Double guest cabin with en suite bath room, stall shower and built in shower seat.

Twin guest cabin with Pullman berth and en suite bath room and stall shower.

"With tears in our eyes and hugs all around we sadly had to take leave of Marae and her crew today. What an amazing holiday we have had! Frank, as I am sure you know, is a truly professional charter skipper who knows exactly how to run a charter for the maximum enjoyment of your charter guests. Penny surpassed our wildest dreams in terms of her culinary skills; creating special dishes to meet our tastes and preferences. Indeed in her presentation for dinner on Chinese New Year's Eve she showed just how far she had researched Chinese traditions but also amazed us with hand made dumplings that surpassed the best to be found in China! If you ever have need of a relief Chef again you should ask for Penny, if she is available.Jeremy has a maturity and professionalism way beyond his age. He not only so ably supports Frank but also is able to teach guests in all the water sports and toys to be found on board. He is a huge asset aboard Marae.Your hostess, Lizzie, has just the right attitude and sense of humour to be able to keep your guests happy. My wife and guests loved her!Altogether your crew make Marae excel as the Super Yacht that she is and I would not hesitate to heartily recommend Marae as the first choice they should make when contemplating a charter of this class.Thank you for sharing your dream with me. I consider it a privilege to have been allowed to enjoy your beautiful yacht.Very best regards, Piers"
