Greece and the 5 Chains of Islands

Greece and the 5 Chains of Islands

Greece is currently the most sought out vacation destination in the world. Full of history, museums and landmarks that no other country has to offer Greece has grown to not only attract experienced travelers but an entirely new generation as well.

On the water Greece becomes even more enchanting – the country has approximately 6,000 islands of which only 227 are inhabited. They are spread throughout the Aegean and the Ionian Seas. Greece truly is one of the best vacation destinations to explore by water on your own private luxury yacht charter.

The Cyclades Islands,

The most popular chain of islands, consist of 56 islands just East of Athens.

To simplify flights and travel time, embarking and disembarking your yacht in Athens makes it very easy for travelers. Dylos, Los, Mylos, Naxos, Mykonos, Paros, and Santorini all have their own unique flavor and something for everyone can be found in this amazing location.

Greece – Sporades Island

The Sporades Islands consist of 4 small islands; Alonissos, Skiathos, Skopelos, and Skyros. They are located between the Greek mainland and to the Northeast Aegean Sea.

The suggested boarding port would be Agios (AG) Konstantinos and work your way down south to end in Athens.

Greece – Saranoic and Peloponnese Islands

The Saranac and Peloponnese Islands are located Southwest of Athens. This is a great sailing destination due to the islands being so close to each other. Guests can enjoy a daily 2-3 hour sail and still have time to explore the islands. Do not miss Poros, Hydra, Ermioni, Porto Heli, Nafplion, Hermoni.

Greece – Dodecanese Islands

The Dodecanese Islands are further East in the Aegean Sea and borders Turkey. Very different than the other Greek islands, the Dodecanese Islands are famous for their Medieval Architecture and full of history. To enjoy this itinerary, you must explore Turkey while there… The “must-see” islands are Rhodes, Kos, Kalymnos, Simi, Kusadasi, Bodrum, and Marmaris.

Greece – Ionian Sea

The Ionian Sea that borders Greece’s West Coast has only one chain of islands called the Ionian Islands. A total of 12 islands that have a mild and temperate climate. Due to the Maltemi Winds, makes the Ionian Islands a perfect paradise for sailors and windsurfers. Do not miss seeing Corfu, Kefalonia, Lefkas, Zakynthos, and Ithaki.
